President’s Perspective
THIS YEAR IS RAPIDLY PROGRESSING AND THE GEORGIA REALTORS® CONTINUE TO BE HARD AT WORK IN OUR EFFORTS TO IMPROVE THIS INDUSTRY FOR OUR MEMBERS. WE HAVE HAD A VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR SO FAR WITH OUR IMPRESSIVE LEGISLATIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS, OUR INAUGURAL & LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE & EXPO, AND OUR NUMEROUS INITIATIVES TAKING SHAPE. AS WE JOURNEY THROUGH THIS YEAR AND BEYOND, WE SHALL CONTINUE TO BE YOUR VOICE FOR THIS INDUSTRY AND OUR COMMUNITIES, AND TO MAKE GEORGIA A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE AND CONDUCT BUSINESS.
In this issue on page 28, we highlight our 2016 REALTOR® of the Year nominees. I cannot congratulate these individuals enough for their accomplishments. The award is one of our highest honors. These nominees continue in a long and proud tradition, representing some of the finest REALTORS® in this state. They each have placed placed a positive light on GAR, not only within their local boards/associations, but also within their communities. If you see any of these nominees, please take the time to thank them for what they do for all of us, and for the good their contributions do for real estate in Georgia.
September is rapidly approaching, as is our Annual Conference in Destin, Florida. The Conference Committee is hard at work planning this event, and we encourage you to attend and take advantage of all that will be offered. As always, we will have numerous educational opportunities, networking events, forums, and committee meetings. I would also ask that you invite our members who have never attended to come take part in our meeting. Our membership is the lifeblood of this Association and the Annual Conference gives everyone the opportunity to be involved and have their voice heard.
Finally, I wish to take a moment to personally encourage each and every one of you to get involved. Every member matters and every voice is important. I hope that everyone reading this will take some time to make a difference in our Association. Whether it is serving on a committee, volunteering for a board’s charity event, spreading the knowledge of all the good our Association does, or mentoring someone new to this industry or our Association, every effort matters. We are the sum of our deeds. GAR is, and always has been, strong because of the work of you, our members. I am proud of our members’ efforts and ask that each of you continue to bring us this sustained success into the future.
