COLD STORAGE FEATURE REACH TRUCK HANDLES LOW TEMPERATURES
Yale Europe Materials Handling and distribution partner Briggs Equipment focused on materials handling solutions for the perishable goods supply chain when they exhibited at TCS&D show in September. From its heavy-duty construction to its high-specification, cold-resistant cabling and waterproofed electrics, Yale’s MR series cold store reach truck is designed to cope with extreme temperature fluctuations, condensation and ice. Drivers remain productive as they stay
warm and comfortable in the enclosed, insulated cab fitted with a highly efficient heating and ventilation system and full suspension seat. Yale brand manager Iain Friar says the cold store reach truck combines the class-leading features of the MR series reach truck with functionality specifically designed for the challenging conditions of temperature controlled storage which can be as low as -30°C. “We put people and productivity at the heart of our product design and the cold store reach truck is a perfect illustration of this. “By ensuring operators are comfortable and alert they are able to maintain optimum productivity for longer.” Yale regional sales director at Briggs
Equipment Les Knight says: “Perishable goods is a growth market so we are taking this opportunity to showcase with Yale the cold store MR series which raises the benchmark for materials handling in chilled and frozen goods warehouses. “Long service intervals, commonality of
components with other lift trucks in the Yale range and ease of access helps keep regular servicing costs down to ensure maximum equipment uptime. The cold store MR offers class-leading performance in one of the harshest logistics environments with low lifetime costs.”

ZERO-EMISSION COOLING TECHNOLOGY
Dearman is developing a range of highly efficient zero-emission cold and power technologies which utilise cutting-edge liquid air engines. The first such technology to come to market will be a clean transport refrigeration system which has been on trial since March in a joint project with MIRA, Loughborough University and Air Products. Further trials commence in 2016 in
multiple international markets. The zero-emission system offers significant environmental benefits. It emits no harmful gases or matter such as NOx or particulates only clean air or nitrogen. Existing diesel transport refrigeration
units are lightly regulated and can emit up to 29 times as much pollutant as a Euro 6 truck engine. Replacing these disproportionately polluting auxiliary engines with a zero-emission alternative such as Dearman’s will immediately improve local air quality. The system is being designed to be cost competitive when compared to existing diesel systems particularly compared to other zero-emission alternatives and is expected to deliver ongoing operational cost savings.
