foaming product, Trexel aims to be a solutions provider to OEMs and moulders interested in foaming solutions to reduce weight, reduce cycle time, and/or increase dimensional stability,” says Brian Bechard, President and CEO of Trexel. “In the course of our research and development, we have found that TecoCell is unique among CFAs in its ability to create generally consistent microcellular structures with certain materials and under certain conditions. Therefore, we have decided to offer TecoCell for the set of applications where it may represent a more suitable solution than MuCell. “Tightening emissions standards continue to drive

increased interest in lightweighting, and the market demand for MuCell continues to grow,” Bechard says. “In some areas such as low-volume production, however, the MuCell process is not always economically justifiable. We are often approached by potential customers about applications where a high-quality CFA solution could provide a better cost/benefit balance. Now, by adding TecoCell to our portfolio of solutions, we can reach a part of the market that was unavailable to us previously.” Polyfil claims that, unlike other chemical foaming

additive systems, its provides only one reaction point. The company adds that TecoCell does not produce corrosive by-products or require scavenger technology.

Process enablers Moran Spier, Product Manager Foaming Agents at Tosaf Compounds, reports that the company is seeing an increasing number of technical enquiries for foaming agents for use to improve product properties and to ease process related issues. “Foaming agents used to
