TieFest, Light Tackle Fest set for February


T


HE popular Lefty Kreh TieFest, the premiere fly fishing show in the mid-Atlantic region, is set


for Saturday, Feb. 20, and will be joined by CCA Maryland’s Light Tackle Fest. The evening will culmi- nate with the second annual Dine with Legends Dinner where partici- pants will join numerous fishing leg- ends. All events will be at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. Lefty will be featured at the events, and angling legends Bob Clouser, Bob Popovics, Brad Buzzi and Steve Silverio have also been invited. There will be seminars and tying demonstrations, along with exhibits with local fishing guides and tackle shops. Moreira wins Rocktober Cup


The second annual Little Havana Catch and Release Rocktober Cup in Baltimore drew 53 anglers, but the key number for winner Tony Moreira was 30. Moreira won the event with a 26.75-inch rockfish that he caught 30 minutes before second place finisher Nathan Iager caught and released another 26.75-incher.


The one-day tournament benefit-


ted CCA Maryland and Blue Water Baltimore, and was hosted by Little Havana Restaurante y Cantina. Moreira won a trip to the Florida Keys, while Iager received an Ocean City trip. Both prizes were donated by Little Havana.


Matthew Bright finished third with a 23-inch rockfish, winning an Engel cooler. Iager’s fish won the


Calcutta for largest fish by a single angler and also the Calcutta for the largest personal stringer. Iager, Stephen Arnold and Andrew Stroter won the Calcutta for the longest stringer by a team.


Westminister’s Oyster Festival


More than 2,000 community mem- bers in Westminster attended the city’s Oyster Festival, and CCA Maryland’s Central Region Chapter was front and center working to edu- cate people about the importance of oysters to the Chesapeake Bay.
