On the 18th May 2015, the Health and Safety Executive published a safety notice entitled ‘Earth Moving Machinery – changes to visibility requirements’ highlighting the need for the industry to act when it comes to visibility from machines. 


To help explain the implications of the notice to the plant sector, Finning News caught up with Finning Head of H&S, Keith Oakes at a special Balfour Beatty and Flannery Plant Hire training facility, near the Balfour Beatty Dartford Crossing project. Keith: “The latest move by the HSE to highlight the importance of visibility issues in the plant sector is to be applauded, so is the reaction from the industry, with main contractors like Balfour Beatty and Skanska adopting a 360 degree visibility approach on projects.
