We’ll insure you have an ace time at the ball
Cover-More is sponsoring the Northern Ball for the first time. Chief executive Adam Finch explains why
Q. The Northern Ball is the biggest travel trade party of the year. Tell us why you’re involved as a headline sponsor. A. Cover-More is a leading provider of travel insurance to the travel trade in each of the markets in which we operate, and fantastic events like this allow us to thank Cover-More’s travel partners for their support. In addition, the Northern Ball is an opportunity for us to meet prospective UK partners.
Q. What are the big developments for you as a business at the moment? A. Cover-More is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to support our UK partners. We are a leader in technology take-up, with our travel agent insurance sales management system, online holiday booking path integration and mobile-responsive technology putting us at the forefront of the market. The true value of travel insurance can only be demonstrated when a customer needs our help. A recent example of Cover-More going above and beyond to support our partners and their customers was the recent earthquake in Nepal: Cover- More was the only travel insurance company globally to charter an aircraft to Nepal and to send a team of doctors, nurses and trauma counsellors to assist on-the-ground, leading to the evacuation of 152 insured customers within 48 hours of the event occurring.
Q. What are you doing to help your travel agent partners? The Cover-More UK sales team is on the road visiting our travel trade partners more than ever to help them to achieve their financial goals from this product line. We understand the retail environment and how important
it is for our partners to have continued support when selling travel insurance through on-site training, regular sales consultant incentives, fantastic levels of commission, and the ability to operate under our FCA regulatory umbrella.
Q. What tune will you be listening out for during the fantastic after-party? With my strong Scottish heritage, you will definitely find me walking 500 Miles to The Proclaimers.
Q. This year’s Northern Ball coincides with the Rugby World Cup and has a sporting theme. What are your and your team’s favourite sporting memories? I remember the national heartbreak when England lost the 1990 Italia World Cup semi-final to Germany on penalties. Our UK sales manager Graham Bishop’s favourite moment was when Portsmouth won the FA Cup in 2008; UK digital marketing manager Sarah Bennett loved the moment Jonny Wilkinson scored the winning drop goal in the 2003 Rugby World Cup; and our UK operations manager Carly Everett loved Andy Murray winning Wimbledon in 2013.
Q. Can you give us an idea of what fancy dress you’ll be donning for the big night? We will be going all out with a tennis theme! Look out for some great outfits along with some fun prizes and games from our part on the big night.
Q. What would be your message to a travel agent gearing up to attend the Northern Ball for the first time? Enjoy yourself, have a fantastic night and make sure you visit the Cover-More table for a glass or two.
