Energy Saving Equipment 29 J&E Hall presents: the Dartmoor cooler
J&E HALL’S NEW ambient beer cooler is helping a Dartmoor pub to save energy and cut costs by making full use of the abundant chilled air.
The cooler, launched this year, has been installed in the cellar of the Ring of Bells at North Bovey.
Pub owner Richard Edlmann said: “We are now using around 40 per cent less electricity than we would usually use. On Dartmoor the temperature is usually cooler
than 12°C, so the J&E Hall ambient beer cooler works well with the cellar system.” The beer cooler and a J&E Hall JCC2 40e cellar cooler was installed by John Todd Refrigeration of Exeter. The equipment was supplied by FSW of
Bristol.
J&E Hall ambient beer coolers draw in cold air from outside and, as they contain no refrigerants, employ a greener method of cooling.
This also helps to reduce servicing costs and extends the life of the main cellar cooling system.
The ambient beer cooler fits with any make or model of cellar cooling system on the market. When the outside temperature drops below 8°C, the ambient beer cooler takes over from the main cellar cooler, drawing in fresh air from outside through a fan and ducting kit.
