35th Anniversary NATIONAL SENSOR SHOW IS REBRANDED
Reflecting the worldwide use of intelligent and connected sensors in an ever-growing number of industries and applications, the Sensors & Instrumentation exhibition has a new logo and branding for 2015. Taking place at the NEC Birmingham on 30th September and 1st October, this year's event promises to be even bigger and better than previous shows. Now in its sixth year and firmly established as the UK's only national sensors event, Sensors & Instrumentation 2015 has a number of new elements added which will further expand and develop this key industry trade show. Highlights include an exhibition of the latest products and technology from over 100 market-leading suppliers. This will provide visitors with the opportunity to see both new products and well-established ranges - all in the one venue. The popular seminar programme will once again take place over the two days of the show and will include presentations from leading suppliers in the test, measurement and control industry, including National Instruments, HBM, Sensirion and DJB Instruments, to name just a
few. This will be backed up by a new series of high-level keynote and case study led conference sessions taking place in a dedicated theatre within the show. Another exciting addition for 2015 is the
‘Innovation Showcase’. This special display area within the show floor will provide the perfect opportunity for exhibitors, conference presenters and industry leading companies to demonstrate their latest products and innovations. It will be a focal point for the industry to demonstrate the latest developments taking place within the sector. “The show provides us with a wonderful
platform to not only exhibit our extensive range of sensors, but also to discuss applications and give advice,” said Mike Neal, Huba Control. Taking place in Hall 3, the show will be co-
located with The Machine Building Show, Micro Nano MEMS, TCT, and the PPMA Show. Pre- registered visitors will also benefit from free parking (when staying after 3pm) and free Wi- Fi access. Further details on the show, conference and seminars, and how to register for your free entry badge, can be found at:

PREPARE FOR CDM CHANGES
Process Engineering Consultants Haden Freeman are urging companies within the process sector to prepare for the changes in the Construction (Design & Management) regulations which came into effect on Monday 6 April. Haden Freeman’s business development manager,
Joe Gunton-Jones, explained: “The new regulations, in essence, make three important changes to the original 2007 regulations, whilst also extending their coverage to domestic construction and Facilities Management.” Probably the most important of these changes replace the CDM Coordinator with a Principal Designer who will be responsible for all aspects of the design stage. Safety is therefore designed into any project with this integral member of the team advising on not only all aspects of the project but also co-ordinating with client. The second change recognises the influence and
importance of the client as final decision maker and places the responsibility of these decisions firmly back with the client, whilst the third change introduces a new definition of competence which is described as skills, knowledge, training and experience and, if it relates to an organisation, organisational capability.

FANUC, a provider of robotics and automation, has announced its partnership with Preferred Networks Inc, a Tokyo-based machine- learning venture. The partnership will involve
FANUC integrating machine-learning software into their robots to increase the intelligence and give the ability to learn by themselves without programming. The artificial intelligence will not
only optimise how the work is done but it will make it possible for machines to configure themselves and diagnose efficiencies.

Industrial Washing Machines (IWM) has launched a lease service for its custom-made and off the shelf washing and sanitising equipment. Starting from as little as £24 per week, the lease service can help lessen the financial burden for small and medium businesses in need of equipment upgrades. Opting for a lease on one of IWM’s

washing machines benefits buyers in that, unlike overdraft facilities, lease rentals are unaffected by interest rate changes. This means that rentals are fixed throughout the period, allowing businesses to budget effectively and spend money where it is truly needed.
