M.A.C. Solutions, developer of the ProcessVue suite of alarm management software, has launched a suite of alarm management services, designed to help companies identify, manage and resolve their alarm management issues. The suite of services includes


alarm management benchmark assessments, alarm philosophy, alarm rationalisation, nuisance alarm remediation, advance alarm handling techniques, and alarm management training. INCREASED VISIBILITY OF SAFETY PROGRAMME


Rockwell Automation has announced the Safety Maturity Index (SMI) tool, a self-guided assessment that gives manufacturers visibility into the effectiveness of their safety programmes. Applicable to any industry, any plant size and any location, the SMI tool helps manufacturers see where they measure in safety culture, compliance and capital. It provides recommendations to help achieve best-in-class safety performance. The three principal components of a successful safe workplace – culture (behavioural), compliance (procedural) and capital (technical) – are interdependent in developing a strong, sustainable safety program. For example, creating and maintaining a robust safety culture but not investing in safety technologies and/or complying with standards lowers a company’s ability to provide a safe workplace. Each safety pillar is measureable in the SMI tool using four categories


– SMI 1: minimizing investment, SMI 2: attaining compliance, SMI 3: cost avoidance and SMI 4: operational excellence. By answering a series of questions, manufacturers can complete the SMI assessment and determine how they measure in each of the four categories. EXPANDING MACHINERY PROTECTION


A compact protection system for machinery such as pumps, compressors, centrifuges, blowers and generators has been introduced by Emerson Process Management. The CSI 3000 Machinery Health Monitor delivers protection data where a standard rack-based system simply will not fit or is not a cost-effective approach. It is easy to assemble and offers a customisable set-up for ensuring the safety of rotating assets. The monitor measures shaft


vibration, bearing vibration, position and speed, and generates key


signals. The system provides the user with alarm outputs for each channel and does not require additional signal converters for shaft vibration and displacement measurements.
