he UK AD & Biogas annual expo and conference is the UK's only dedicated


anaerobic digestion and biogas trade show. Launched in 2010, the show has grown by a staggering 483% since the inaugural event, proving just how quickly the AD and bioresources industry has grown in the UK over this period. The event will showcase the latest AD technology and services from 250 exhibitors working across all sectors of the AD industry. It will also play host to many other visitor attractions including: a two day conference, 22 seminar sessions, a R&D hub, one-to-one advice clinics, a biomethane vehicle area featuring working examples of vehicles using biomethane technology and the fourth UK AD & Biogas Industry Awards. All content on the show floor is free to attend, even the high level conference, which will include topics such as the political outlook for AD and the future of the industry, the potential impact of the UK Bioenergy Strategy Review, and how to maximise AD performance across industry. Here are just a few highlights from


some of the 250 exhibitors at the show. Borger Pumps will be showing the first rotating knife design machine on the AD market for handling farm manure and straw-based bedding on stand H301. Rotorrake achieves a size reduction of

In-Place (MIP) design, its quick-release cover and single screw cover removal make it very easy to service. The company’s stand will also feature the PL200 Rotary Lobe Pump and Macerator for the front-end of small– scale biogas plants, which eliminates the need for rotary mixing and feed units. Demonstrating how to optimise anaerobic digestion (AD) plant performance, HRS Heat Exchangers will showcase its energy efficient digestate pasteurisation technology on stand E213: the HRS 3 Tank Batch Sludge Pasteuriser System. The system is said to be 70% more energy efficient when pasteurising an AD plant’s organic biofertiliser, digestate, to meet PAS 110 standards.


Pasteurisation is known to be an energy


hungry process. To combat this the HRS system uses waste heat from the plant’s CHP engine via the engine’s cooling water and also recycles the heat (through heat exchanger tubes) used during the pasteurisation process to reduce energy consumption by up to 70%.

The system is designed to enhance gas yields by comprehensively mixing the whole tank. Externally-mounted, GasMix is also far easier and safer to maintain. is the installation of its GasMix system in Ireland at EPS Water’s successful Design Build Operate (DBO) package at the recently expanded WWTW in Tullamore, home of the celebrated Irish whiskey, Tullamore Dew. software and weighbridge management systems are used extensively in the anaerobic digestion and biomass industries. The company’s colour touch- screen DD2050 driver terminal is said to provide power and versatility. Together with the Winweigh software, the DD2050 can manage a range of peripherals including: radiation detection systems, number-plate cameras, card readers, barriers and traffic lights. Winweigh is compatible with leading third party software including SAP, Sage, JD Edwards and Microsoft Navision.
