Vending Events Energy and innovation at Vending Paris

VI publication director Hannah Dedman and features editor Bryony Andrews were among the 15,000 visitors at the trade event combining the Sandwich & Snack Show, Parizza and Vending Paris. Held on 18-19 March 2015 at Porte de Versailles in Paris, Vending Paris demonstrated

the latest trends in the automatic vending market to visitors both French and international. A key attraction was the life-size demonstration zone The Vending Store Game,

which highlighted major innovations and their uses in the market. These included a machine equipped with a meal voucher scanner, a fully branded MILKA machine demonstrating the potential of vending as new advertising media and vending machines used to offer unconventional products in unusual locations. Particularly impressive was the touchscreen ‘Newspaper Stand’ vending machine by AST International that distributed copies of Vending International to show visitors. The International Business Day, organised

in association with EVA (the European Vending Association), brought together the largest international bodies in vending, facilitating constructive dialogue on the future of the industry. “The vending sector is at a real turning point in its ‘modernisation’, ringing the changes in

order to respond to new consumer wants and needs,” said Corinne Menegaux, director of Vending Paris. The event will return next year on 14-15 March 2016, at the Porte de Versailles, Hall 7.2, Paris.

Sell out trade show for BWCA

Members of the British Water Cooler Association (BWCA) gathered last month for the annual BWCA Conference and Trade Show, held at the Nottingham Belfry

The morning began with a positive presentation from Amy Lathrop Visser, senior market consultant at world leading specialist food and drink consultancy Zenith International. She reported that the combined point of use (POU) and bottled water cooler (BWC) market rose in value by 8% compared with 2013, continuing a growth trend reported last year for the first time since 2007. BWCA Chairman John Dundon welcomed the

news: “This is a buoyant market and Zenith’s market intelligence has confirmed what those of us who run and work in cooler businesses have been experiencing. The BWCA is similarly growing, with a number of new members joining in recent weeks and months.” The conference continued with a talk given by writer, communicator and strategist Alastair Campbell, who shared his insights into

business, politics and what makes winners with delegates. Each delegate received a copy of his best-selling new book ‘Winners: And How They Succeed’. Phillipa Atkinson-Clow, general manager of the BWCA, commented on the success of the event: “The BWCA conference has become the highlight of the year for those working in and with the water cooler industry. Each year the event has become stronger, better and more vibrant and this is due in no small measure to the enthusiastic support of our members. As chairman John Dundon pointed out, just 5 years ago an inner group of about 45 people attended the pre-conference supper. This year we had over 90 attendees at that event and over 140 people attending the conference. At a time when people lead busy working lives, this is testament to the importance in which the event is held. It is the place to hear about progress, start planning new strategies and share best practice.”
