Many people don’t realise how close Israel actually is – at only a short 4.5 hour flight away with direct flights available from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Manchester, it’s the perfect place for your customers to spend a sunny long weekend. Not only is it close and convenient, it offers an amazing diversity of sights and activities that are all close in distance and immense in satisfaction.

Tel Aviv combines it all: fantastic restaurants, bars and cafes, cutting-edge hotels, great museums and galleries, Bauhaus architecture walking tours, superb beaches, flea markets, shops and hopping nightlife (gay, straight and who-gives-a-monkeys-lets-just-party). Your clients could spend all weekend on the beach – and many visitors do just that.

But it would be a shame to miss out wandering the lanes of the Neve Tzedek district, which is packed full of small shops and cafes, or cycling along the seafront down to Jaffa to poke around in the numerous lanes full of everything from art galleries to knick-knack shops, before whiling away an hour or two in an old café. Cyplon Holidays offers a four-night break at the 4-star Leonardo Boutique Hotel (B&B) with flights from Luton starting at £479 per person based on two sharing. Call 0800 074 8888 or visit cyplon.co.uk. Mosaic Holidays offers a four-night break at the 4-star Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv (B&B) with prices starting at £969 per person based on two sharing. This package includes a standard room, return private transfers, return flights from Luton and a one-day tour to Jerusalem (shared). Call 020 8574 4000 or visit mosaicholidays.co.uk.

Jerusalem, which is a short one-hour drive from Tel Aviv and only a 40-minute transfer from Ben Gurion Airport, is a wonder to behold. Walking through the narrow streets of the Old City allows people to connect with history in a way that no other place can.

The spirituality of the area is impossible to avoid – you feel it with every step you take and stone you touch. The places to see and things to experience are incredible: Amazing museums like The Israel Museum (imj.org.il), that holds the Dead Sea Scrolls, and Yad Vashem (yadvashem. org), the Jewish people’s living memorial to the Holocaust, are must-sees. But more light hearted activities are also on offer, such as a visit to Machane Yehuda Market (machne.co.il/en/) to experience local life and taste the astonishing flavours of the food on offer.

Kirker Holidays offers a three-night break in Jerusalem at the 3-star-plus Arthur Hotel (B&B) from £880 per person based on two sharing. This includes flights on British Airways from Heathrow, meet & greet at the airport and return private transfers. Call 020 7593 1899 or visit kirkerholidays.com. Holiday Designers offers a package (not including flights) for a four-night stay at the 4-star Dan Boutique Hotel (B&B) that also includes an excursion to Masada and the Dead Sea from £319 per person, based on two sharing. Call 020 3384 0023 or visit holiday-designers.com.

From either city, day trips to the surrounding areas are quick and easy. A good option is a visit the lowest place on earth, The Dead Sea (short breaks are also possible, speak to any of the tour operators listed here for prices). Covering yourself in the therapeutic mud and effortlessly floating on its salty waters is one of the most unique experiences in the world.

The fantastic historical site of Masada (King Herod’s winter palace) is also located by the Dead Sea. And for nature lovers, a hike through Ein Gedi National Park, with its beautiful waterfalls and abundance of wild life, will leave them refreshed and invigorated.
