American Airlines and US Airways’ passengers will check in for flights on a single reservations system from later this year after the carriers were granted a single operating certificate. The Federal Aviation Administration’s approval for the airlines to operate under one certificate is the culmination of more than 18 months’ work on aligning the carriers’ operating policies and procedures. Flight operations, maintenance and dispatch procedures will now be identical for all flights. Passengers will continue to

check in for flights at American or US Airways’ airport counters or on their websites. The procedure will be aligned at an, as yet, undisclosed date later this year. The two airlines have been

working on integration since merging in December 2013.
