BQA Beef Quality Assurance

Tools, Techniques and Tips The most common types of injec- tions in cattle health programs are intramuscular (IM), in the muscle and subcu- taneous (SQ), just beneath the skin.

For IM injections, the best technique is to administer in the neck.

For SQ injections, the best tech- nique is to “tent” or pull up the skin on the neck, dewlap or at the elbow pocket, and then adminis- ter just beneath the skin.

Free Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) training is available on line at www.texasbeefquality.com or www.bqaonline.com, brought to you by TSCRA, Texas Beef Council and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.
