Impending General Election is not denting construction industry confidence
in 2015 Britain’s construction businesses are expecting a strong 2015 for sales and investment, and are continuing to recruit strongly following 18 months of high optimism about the economy reveals the new Vistage Medium-Sized Business Confidence Index (published Wednesday 18 February). The research is based on responses by 43 CEOs, MDs and owners of
construction businesses (and also 402 businesses from other sectors) conducted by Vistage the leadership organisation for business owners. Key findings from the latest Vistage Construction Confidence Index include:
• Almost four-fifths of medium-sized construction businesses aim to expand their workforce in 2015 (with 23% polled expecting to recruit this quarter and two fifths intending to recruit steadily throughout 2015).
• Owners of British mittelstand construction businesses continue to be strongly optimistic about the forthcoming year. Over three quarters (78%) expect the economy to improve, without anyone expecting it will get worse.
• The expansion of the workforce at most construction businesses is being driven by strong expectations that the better economic times will translate into sales – with a massive 86% expecting an increase in sales revenue over 2015 (9% expect sales to remain about the same, 3% expect them t fall).
• They also felt that 2015 was on the whole going to be a much better year for the UK economy, with nearly half (45%) expecting improved economic conditions and only 9% expecting things to be worse.

Scheme Protecting Millions in the Towing Community The National Trailer and
Towing Association (NTTA), the voice of the UK light trailer and towing industry, is celebrating 15 years promoting excellence in tow bar installation and trailer maintenance, through its Quality Secured (QS) accreditation scheme. Since the year 2000, in the UK alone, it is estimated that four million tow bars
have been fitted and two million trailers were purchased. The QS scheme is recognised by over a million members of the towing public, and recommended and endorsed by the Automobile Association (The AA), The Caravan Club and The Camping & Caravanning Club. A fundamental element of QS is to ensure that members of the scheme are
rigorously monitored and independently audited on an annual basis to retain their accreditation. The NTTA’s priority is to ensure the safety of the towing community and recommends people use qualified professionals who have the QS accreditation to provide this vital service. Paul Huthwaite, Director of Wilmond Engineering in Hertfordshire and QS
accredited member spoke about the scheme and why it is so important to the towing community: “As members of the Quality Secured scheme our customers are confident that our work is carried out to the highest standards by trained technicians; using only top quality components. “They also have peace of mind knowing that our fitters, workshops and equipment are audited independently every year.”
