Executive Hire Show 2015 – More Visitors for 2015
– Continued from Page 22 dust port to whisk away dust from both user and motor. After the judges had had time to adjudicate, the Stihl TSA won the Innovation Trail Award, so congrats to a most impressive performance indeed.
Supplying the discs for
diamond cutting is another good business. I had a look at Spectrum Diamond’s bewildering display of its range of diamond discs, core drills and specialist bits. The discs etc. have a reputation for good old no-nonsense Australian toughness but with no-nonsense prices too. Also on display were a
range of OX Brand hand tools for building professionals. If retailers around me are anything to go by, the brand is catching on quickly with its bright blue livery and again, tempting prices for tools that are up to the job. Some people complain
about the green agenda emanating from Europe, but it seems as though those that embrace it can make money
and save their customers loads too. MHM Plant from Port Talbot displayed a Powerbank 20/25 hybrid generator that was getting a lot of attention. Firefly Clean Energy based in Lewes in Sussex is a leading manufacturer of
hybrid power generators. The company has designed generators that maximize fuel efficiency by monitoring power usage of peaks and troughs. By switching off when not needed, users can save up to 2000 litres of diesel per month. You do the maths. The company claims to have saved their users over 1,00,000 litres of diesel
already, as well as providing safe and fume free power when necessary by switching to batteries when appropriate. Apparently, the huge display model generator was sold on the first day to a keen buyer who wrote a very large cheque on the spot. Site security is another big issue for building sites, and various methods have
been tried to clamp down on theft. But I suppose, the best way might be to simply lock all the valuable kit away when it is not being used. I turned down the challenge from the rep at Armorgard to see how quickly I could break into one of their site tool safes. Since the challenge would probably involve a lot of sparks, swearing and noise, I could see that I was more likely to attract the attention of security than being able to make off with the goods inside. I was also interested in their smallish but very robust set of work tables that
could be the perfect answer to finding a safe work table on site. Pramac, an Italian company whose machines come in a bright lime green and
are hard to miss, had a display of generators of all sizes, lighting towers, pallet trucks and of course a rather nice Ducati motorbike that always intrigues me. From comments both official and informal, it seems as though the 2015
Executive Hire Show was resounding success, and bookings are already being made for next year. It will take place on Wednesday 10th February and Thursday 11 February 2016 at the same venue.
