Profi le: Duromer Products has been compounding engineering polymers since 1995 after acquiring a licence from AlliedSignal (later Honeywell). In 2004 it began producing its own engineering compounds and in 2010 relocated to a new purpose-built facility with a well-equipped R&D laboratory. Duromer will become Australia’s fi rst producer of long fi bre thermoplastics (LFTs) with the completion of a new expansion, scheduled for November 2014. This will increase total capacity by 1,000 tonnes. The company also distributes a range of engineering plastics.


Product line: Duromer is a specialised thermoplastic compounder focusing on engineering plastics, including the full family of polyamides, PET, PBT, PC, ASA, ABS, and PC/ABS, as well as polyolefi ns and recyclate. Products are offered in various formulations including fi lled/unfi lled, mineral/glass reinforced, impact modifi ed, fl ame retardant, conductive and high gravity grades. LFT compounds are marketed under the proprietary brand Polystruct, using technology licensed from Plasticomp of the USA. Duromer’s target markets include agriculture, construction, medical, automotive, mining, electrical and food services.


Product strengths: In addition to ISO 9001:2008, Duromer is an approved supplier of compounds for leading automotive and medical device OEMs. Its site is UL registered for making fl ame retarded compounds. Duromer can help customers to commercialise an idea by assisting with CAD design, FEA modelling and production trials.
