20 QUESTIONS WITH... Tervel Dlagnev
Tervel Dlagnev is one of the best heavyweight wrestlers on the planet.
Dlagnev captured a bronze medal at the 2014 World Championships in freestyle wrestling at 125 kg/275 lbs. in early September in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Dlagnev won his second World medal after earning a bronze medal in his first World Championships appearance in 2009. Dlagnev, a two-time NCAA Division II champion for the University of Nebraska at Kearney, finished fifth at the 2011 and 2013 Worlds, and also placed fifth at the 2012 Olympic Games. The 29-year-old Dlagnev was born in Bulgaria and grew up in Arlington, Texas.
He trains at the Ohio Regional Training Center at Ohio State University in Columbus.
Dlagnev took time out of his busy schedule to answer 20 Questions for USA Wrestler: 1. Favorite movie? Two of my favorite movies at the moment are Scott Pilgrim vs.
The World and About Time. 2. Favorite TV show? Psych.
3. What do you listen to before you compete? Nothing right before I wrestle.
4. Favorite food when not watching your weight? A good burger.
5. Favorite sport other than wrestling? Soccer.
6. Favorite athlete to watch in another sport? Soccer star Lionel Messi. 7. Favorite wrestler and why?
I have a lot of wrestlers that I like, but watching Jordan Burroughs at Worlds this year and his reaction after he was done competing was pretty inspirational. 8. Best piece of advice you've received? Get wisdom.
9. What kind of advice would you give a young wrestler? Stay humble and learn.
10. Best moment as a wrestler so far? It’s tough for me to say. I just love this sport so much. 11. Name three people you would love to invite to dinner? Rob Dyrdek, Nicholas Sparks and C.S. Lewis. It would be great to have conversations with them that would be sponta- neous, emotional, and spiritual.
12. What is one thing you are afraid of? God.
13. How did you become involved in wrestling? I wanted to lose weight, so I joined my high school team in

14. How were you able to adjust to competing on the Senior level?

19. What do you like most about training in Columbus? The relationships and atmosphere. 20. Funniest guy on the team and why? Jordan Burroughs, because he laughs at all his own jokes and that makes me laugh.
