SMBs’ trust in Symantec underlined by fast uptake of Backup Exec 2014

T

he high regard in which SMB customers hold Symantec solutions has been clearly shown by the strong sales we’ve seen of Backup Exec 2014. Since the

product was launched this autumn, Tech Data has seen a very high level of upgrades and new licence and packaged product sales, much of the latter being transacted via our digital distribution system, TDActivate-here.

Matt Cook, Business Development Manager Software at Tech Data, said that the fast uptake on Backup Exec 2014 is down to three main factors. ‘First and foremost it’s the trust that partners undoubtedly have in Symantec and its backup solutions. Second, it’s the excellent support that they get from Symantec’s partner programme and third, the rising awareness amongst SMBs that they really do need to back up their data.’

Whilst sales have been brisk, there are still plenty of opportunities, he noted. ‘We know that many thousands of registered Symantec business customers are yet to make the jump to 2014 and that’s a huge opportunity for the channel. If you bought Backup Exec for your customers from us via License Online in the past, we can tell you who the customers that are yet to upgrade are and provide you with all the details you need to build a renewal quotation. It is well worth going into the system and checking. We’re here to help on any opportunities of course and will always be glad to do that.’

Matt Cook: Huge opportunity to upgrade customers

Tech Data cranks up activity to help you drive supplies sales

E

veryone knows that printer vendors don’t make as much money selling print hardware compared with that of the ink and toner cartridges, paper and other supplies that are always needed to ensure printers, MFPs and scanners are

always available and productive.

Similarly, SMB resellers can make healthy profits on supplies – but it’s an area that can all too easily be overlooked. We’re now having a renewed drive on supplies sales and are investing in various activities and resources to ensure you can optimise your opportunities.

We’ve appointed Andrew Copsey as Business Manager for Supplies and he is available to help you maximise your potential. He brings great experience to the role, having previously worked as a Supplies Sales Specialist for 18 months and over two years as Assistant Category Manager within our Print and Supplies business unit.

Tech Data can offer you a full range of supplies solutions for your customers from the leading Print and Supplies vendors – HP, Canon, Epson and Xerox. For more information, please call Andrew on 01256 864 740, or email andrew.copsey@techdata.com

Boot Camps get you going with Microsoft SPLA T

ech Data recently gave two groups of resellers – in Basingstoke and Manchester – an introduction to Microsoft SPLA and how they can utilise this flexible model to build a hosted applications service for their customers.

Te Microsoft Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA) enables MSPs to offer the company’s software through hosted services – and Tech Data can help you to get enabled for SPLA and get set up to offer Microsoft apps in the cloud. Te Boot Camps give a real insight into SPLA and its potential. We’ll be looking to run more in the future. If you are interested in these, or want to get on board with SPLA right away, please call the Software team on 01256 864 114 or email matthew.cook@techdata.co.uk
