Curved to perfection T
The 34-inch LG curved, IPS display is a world first and, much more importantly, a great piece of technology that customers will love and want to buy
he LG curved, IPS display is claimed to be the world’s first 34-inch curved ultra-wide QHD display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and, as we know of no other display
that fits that description, that’s a reasonable assertion. But that’s of no real importance to the customer (and therefore to you) at the end of the day. What they want to know is what use is it to them? Te great news here is that the LG 34UC97 display – to give its formal name – is an excellent and practical piece of technology that can be put to highly productive use in many different scenarios.
Let’s make this clear; it is definitely a product you can sell – whether your customers are involved in professional AV, graphics, design or video, work in corporate organisations, or small businesses or knowledge workers that need to be as precise and productive as they can be every single minute they are at their desktop.
Carefully crafted
What sets this LG display apart – aside from its ‘world’s- first’ status and its curved shape, is its superb, lifelike colour and that 21:9 aspect ratio. Tis is the ratio used for widescreen movies which means that users don’t get the black bars at the top of the screen.
Te carefully crafted curve of the LG IPS is very significant. Curved displays are still quite new (and thus still carry a premium) and most products to come out of the R&D labs so far have been TVs. Home entertainment was the first target but the really big market is going to be business.
With the Quad HD resolution of 3440 x 1440 (that’s 2.4 times HD), the gentle but generous 178° viewing angle of
the display, and the 21:9 aspect ratio, users can see with clarity right to the edge of the screen. Tis means there is no image or colour distortion – which is a big deal if you work with colour. It means that, on this display, you get no inconsistency and variation. Te colour is precise right to the edge of the display. And with the ultra-high-resolution, the detail is incredible. High resolution images can be viewed without scrolling.
Hugely impressive
We can assure you that once you (or your customer) have seen and used the LG display for a few minutes – perhaps less – you will be convinced. In an ideal world, everyone who works on the desktop would probably want to have one of these displays – but it is going to take up more room of course, and it’s not as private as a smaller display or a laptop screen, so there will be exceptions.
Te prime targets are going to be super-users of graphics and video but everyday ultra-busy users on ultra-big projects and ultra-big files will love it too. LG has thought about their needs as well. It has included a four-screen split capability, so you can divide the screen into four sections at different screen ratios. You can also use two input devices – a laptop and a smartphone for example – and display each on the screen at the same time. It will work with PCs or Macs.
You really have to see the LG IPS 34UC97 to understand just how good it is. It is a hugely impressive display and one that we highly recommend you see for yourself and get in front of your customers as soon as possible.
