esigned to address complex and challenging electronics equipment applications, the Chomerics Europe division of Parker Hannifin will use Electronica 2014 to demonstrate what are considered to be the industry's most advanced shielding, thermal management and optical window technologies. Although Chomerics can provide solutions to all segments of the electronics industry, the principal areas focused on at this year's show are transportation safety within the automotive and aerospace industries. Within the automotive industry the quantity and value of electronics content in vehicles continues to increase. Parker Chomerics' shielding and thermal management materials are providing innovative solutions for modules that support safety, convenience and infotainment electronics functionality. Vehicle electronics systems must deliver long-term reliability in harsh electrical and physical environments. Chomerics' materials enable these challenges to be addressed successfully. It's also important to note that as aircraft adopt lightweight metal-laminated composite material designs, Parker Chomerics' conductive materials are playing a crucial role in providing electrical continuity ensuring safety and reliability. Whilst composite materials give weight savings leading to improved fuel efficiency and reduced environmental impact, they make the management of electromagnetic

RS Components' support for engineers' big design ideas on show
S Components (RS) will be at electronica showcasing its suite of free online tools and resources for electronics design engineers. This year the RS stand will be divided into Product and Design Innovation Zones.
The RS on-stand Design Zone will feature live demonstrations of the recently upgraded Version 7.0 of DesignSpark PCB and DesignSpark Mechanical Version 2, both of which are free tools that support a fast prototype in the design phase. The tools come with a library of over 80,000 schematics and 40,000 3D CAD Models respectively, accessible directly within the applications. The 3D Zone at the RS stand will bring to life the distributor's 3D Printing offering, showcasing the latest in the range including the RepRapPro Ormerod and CubePro by 3D Systems. Adrian Bowyer, the founder of the RepRap Project, will be based on the RS stand, providing visitors the opportunity to meet a true industry pioneer. There will also be DesignSpark Mechanical Version 2 demonstrations showing how engineers can utilise the tool to quickly edit and create concept models through the highly intuitive direct modelling methodology. RS will offer an opportunity for visitors to get their heads scanned and converted to a 3D printable file.
Building on the DesignSpark Mechanical message of the "Gift of Invention" RS will be demonstrating how the rapid concept tool has been employed to deliver a truly life- changing product. The Product Innovation Zone at the stand will see the Raspberry Pi Model B+ and Compute Module, Arduino, SparqEE and Red Pitaya in action, along with the latest energy-efficient open-source Parallella board from Adapteva, which is exclusive to RS. The Projects Zone will feature the distributor's growing collection of open source
designs from the DesignShare portal, with a specific focus on the launch of an Internet of Things (IoT) themed area.

interference, grounding and lightning strike protection more challenging. Chomerics' materials enable these challenges to be addressed successfully. Along with the requirement for thermal interface and shielding materials, markets such as aerospace are increasing their demand for shielded optical windows. Produced using ground breaking specialist processes, optical windows from Chomerics provide a solution for ensuring shielding integrity while simultaneously permitting displays to be viewed clearly at all times, regardless of the operating environment.

xcelsys Technologies will have on show for the first time their latest and most significant product releases to date, including the UltiMod and XSolo
products. The UltiMod is designed to offer users unrivalled price/performance and simplify both selection and procurement. The new UltiMod series of power supplies provides up to 12 outputs and 1200W in a compact 1U format, and is the first in its class to carry a 5 year warranty. In addition to the customary EMC and safety agency approvals, UltiMod is also SEMI F47 compliant for use in semiconductor manufacture. The high efficiency XSolo family of 1U high, ultra- compact single output power supplies is available in 2 package types. Both deliver a market leading convection cooled 504W in an open-frame U-channel form-factor and up to 1008W in an enclosed fan cooled chassis. Both models carry a 5 year warranty and are also SEMI F47 compliant. Additional products on show will be the recently announced new powerPac models in its popular XF series of high reliability, ruggedized COTS modular power supplies. The new XFN power supply is designed to deliver 1000W at –40°C, which compliments other products in the XF range which operate to -55°C.
