Ruth Fertel purchased “Chris” steakhouse in 1965 and despite being trampled by a hurricane that same year, the restaurant thrived for more than a decade. A fire in 1976 forced the steakhouse to move to a new location a few blocks away and thus Ruth’s Chris Steak House was born. The intimate, uptown Beverly Hills location lives up to the reputation that comes with the name.
