Domaine Serene

Founders Ken and Grace Evenstad sought to produce the world’s finest Pinot Noir, and so began Domaine Serene in 1989 with the purchase of 42 acres in the Dundee Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Named after their daughter, Serene Evenstad Warren, the company quickly gained recognition from critic Robert Parker Jr., garnering 90 points for their first wine in 1990 and mentioned by name in his book Parker’s Wine Buyer’s Guide in 1999. Domaine Serene went on to be named “Estate Winery of the Year” in 2003 by Wine & Spirits Magazine and continues to earn accolades for its Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir. Led by winemaker Erik Kramer since 2011, Domaine Serene aims to create well-balanced Pinot Noirs that are complex, silky, and delicious. Kramer combines the scientific knowledge of a geologist with his formal education in Viticulture and Enology. He is continually experimenting with new ways to improve quality, ensuring Domaine Serene maintains the reputation of Oregon’s acclaimed Pinot Noirs. At the same time, Domaine Serene has also found great success with its Chardonnay program. The company believes every wine begins with quality grapes from great vineyards and it creates its wines with grapes

from four locations: Winery Hill Estate, Evenstad Estate, Jerusalem Hill Estate, and Two Barns Vineyard. The diversity in microclimate, soil composition, and elevation contributes to the unique and carefully-crafted nature of each bottle. Domaine Serene’s deep respect for the land and its desire to ensure the environment is preserved for future generations has led to a commitment to sustainable farming practices, including managing soil health, limiting the use of natural resources, and integrating pest control. The company also has a strong commitment to social responsibility and every year the founders participate in the now annual Naples Winter Wine Festival. Since its inception in 2001, the festival has raised more than $125 million for the Naples Children & Education Foundation, including more than $1.5 million from auctions of Domaine Serene.

Inquisitive wine enthusiasts are welcome to visit Domaine Serene and taste the exceptional wines. The winery currently offers two tasting options: The Exquisite Oregon Wines Experience, which tours the gravity flow facility and proceeds to a formal seated tasting, and the Estate Tasting, which offers a more casual tasting experience available without an appointment.
