cannot otherwise be said. Colors in flowers carry with them very strong meanings and interpretations, which the mind unconsciously detects. Lee recently traveled to Europe for 3 months, finding inspiration from the pastoral beauty of the south of France, Giverny and Paris. It goes without saying that after seeing the source of Monet’s impressionist garden scenes, Lee felt compelled to interpret her own floral style. The flowers that Lee paints combine the action painting movement with a more representational style. She uses her knowledge of what flowers look like to plan how they will appear on the canvas, diverting from the action painting found in other parts of the composition. Flowers, however, continually carry out their own form of active storytelling, blooming and growing to remind us to capture every unique moment.

Lee’s passion has made painting her life. She
