Ruth Fertel purchased “Chris” steakhouse in 1965 and despite being trampled by a hurricane that same year, the restaurant thrived for more than a decade. A fire in 1976 forced the steakhouse to move to a new location a few blocks away and thus Ruth’s Chris Steak House was born. The intimate, uptown Beverly Hills location lives up to the reputation that comes with the name. For those starting off at the bar, you might want to try an Agave Bee’s Knees Martini or a Ruth’s Sazerac, a twist on a New Orleans classic. Once you have been seated and are ready to whet your palate, the internationally inspired appetizers, including Mushrooms Stuffed with Crab meat and Veal Osso Buco Ravioli, will satisfy your cravings.
