MISSION NIGHTS BY TOM SWIMM

THE VINTAGE FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL “FAREWELL TO THE SWALLOWS”

The Chamber’s most anticipated event, without a doubt, is the annual Vintage Food & Wine Festival, at Mission San Juan Capistrano. The

Vintage brings the community together for the town’s official “Farewell to the Swallows” as they begin their migration to Argentina. The birds’ return each March is celebrated with the famous Swallows Day Parade. The Vintage is held on the first Saturday in October, with the 2014 edition set for Oct. 4. It is a very special event as it is a celebration of the unique charm of San Juan Capistrano and the enchanting Mission. The weather is usually ideal for this early fall festival under the stars at the beautiful Mission grounds. Guests enjoy a plentiful array of culinary delights from local eateries and wine tasting from award-winning regional wineries. The Vintage also features live music, dancing and an impressive silent auction that includes an original oil painting created by a local artist to com- memorate the event. The Vintage attracts San Juan Capistrano residents as well as residents from all over Orange County and beyond. Proceeds benefit the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting a healthy local economy. www.vintagesjc.com
