4 The Vintage Food & Wine Festival Te Chamber of Commerce bids farewell to the legendary swal- lows during this annual evening event, held in Mission San Juan Capistrano’s beautiful central courtyard from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Enjoy an array of culinary delights from local restaurants, wines from award-winning regional wineries, live entertainment and dancing. 1 Founders Day Bell Ringing Fr. Junipero Serra helped reestablish Mission San Juan Capistrano on All Saints’ Day, 238 years ago. Te Mission will ring its bells in honor of Founders Day. Free with admission. www.missionsjc.com.

6 Tree Lighting Event and Christmas at the Mission Te city hosts its annual holiday tree lighting ceremony at Historic Town Center Park while Mission San Juan Capistrano celebrates Christmas with local musical performance groups, craſts for kids and food. Activities in the park are free and begin at about 4:15 p.m. Te Mission’s Christmas celebration takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets $5 for adults, $3 for children 4 to 11

JANUARY


7 Weekly Fiesta Association Meetings Resume Te Fiesta Association, the all- volunteer group that organizes the Swallows Day Parade, begins their weekly meetings in preparation for the 2015 Fiesta de las Golondrinas season. Tey meet every Wednes- day at the Nydegger Building until the parade in March. Social hour begins at 6:15 p.m. and the meet- ing begins at 7 p.m. www.swallowsparade.com.


16 ShowOff! International Playwriting Festival Te Camino Real Playhouse presents a playwriting competi- tion with premier performances of seven original 10-minute plays. Viewers vote for the winners. Runs two weekends. www.caminorealplayhouse.org.

8 Bell Ringing for the Earthquake of 1812 Mission San Juan Capistrano rings its bells on the 202nd anniversary of the Earthquake of 1812. Te ceremony honors the 40 people, mostly Native Americans, who were killed by the earthquake that also destroyed the Great Stone Church. Free with admission. 949.234.1300. www.missionsjc.com.
