Wipes in a detectable pack
The latest products from Detectamet are the Steri-99.9 disin- fectant wipes that are packaged using a tub, a lid and a dis- penser cap which are metal and X-ray detectable. If they get mislaid and broken up into finished products then the detec- tion systems at the end of the packing line will identify and reject the products before they get to the retailer. The new blue wipes are available in two sizes. There are small probe wipes and the larger disinfection and sanitising wipes for general multi-surface sterilisation. Steri-99.9 disinfectant surface and probe wipes incorporate
a specifically formulated disinfectant to kill harmful bacteria in seconds and they are supplied in resealable tubs and in re- fill packs containing 200 individual wipes. The wipes have been stipulated for use in the food industry
so they are non-perfumed and do not use alcohol in the for- mulation. The advanced multi-surface cleaner and sanitiser can achieve a 99.9% microbiological kill within 30 seconds and yet it contains no irritants within its formulation.

Getting tough on pressure cleaning
Cat Pumps has an- nounced the develop- ment of a new version of its field-proven 5CP positive displacement triplex plunger pump series. The new 5CP4120 series meets increasing de- mands for higher pressures in the heavy-duty high-end pressure washer market. “Cat Pumps 5CP series plunger pumps set the industry
standard for long lasting pressure washer pumps,” said Brian Hubbard, general manager of Cat Pumps UK. “Building on that success, we have extended the pressure range from 3500 to 4000 psi (245 to 275 bar). Our new 5CP4120 is a highly ro- bust pump which does not compromise either on performance or build quality.” The compact model 5CP4120 is rated 17 litres/min at 1750
rpm and can be used in both belt and direct drive applications. To satisfy the demanding requirements of the applications for which this pump has been designed, and to provide a long, low maintenance working life, the valves and seats are made from 316 stainless steel and have been hardened and polished for ultimate performance. High and low pressure seals are fully lubricated and cooled
by the pumped liquid. Combined with Cat Pumps special con- centric, high density polished ceramic plungers, this feature greatly increases pump life. When the time eventually comes for seal replacement, this is quick since the 5CP range fea- tures ‘press in style’ seal cases. For diesel and petrol engine applications, this pump can also

Britannia boom!
Smith Brothers & Webb, designer and manufacturer of be- spoke automated washing systems for trains and passen- ger-carrying vehicles, is experiencing a boom in business. Orders are pouring in for its Britannia brand of washing sys- tems, and in the first six months of this year have already ex- ceeded orders placed in 2013. Turnover is expected to nearly double this year as Britan-
nia’s reputation wins orders from all over the world. Among recent contract wins are orders for a train washing system and a controlled emission toilet system for Hong Kong’s new South Island (East) line and a wash system for Edinburgh’s new tram, as well as bespoke equipment for cleaning the iconic Routemaster ‘Boris Bus’ in London. Andy Barracliffe, director of Britannia Washing Systems,
