Product News 45 Mitsubishi unveils K-CON range
MITSUBISHI Electric has launched a host of new products to its range of air conditioning, ventilation and leak detection solutions. Developed in conjunction with the K-CON Division of wholesaler, Kooltech, the K-CON range has been designed specifically for the UK market and includes many offerings only available from the manufacturer.
Products include a branch controller box with port isolation which allows engineers to service individual indoor units without shutting down the entire VRF system and a discrete low-profile temperature sensor. Also available for the first time is an IP43-rated, weather-proof housing for the full range of LGH-RX5 Lossnay MVHR units. For server rooms and critical situations, a pre-fabricated stand eliminates the need for a bespoke design and manufacture. Finally, the company has developed specific answers to refrigerant gas detection, with full solutions for both EN378 compliance and for helping achieve recognition within BREEAM. Mitsubishi Electric
ETI launches IR-Pocket thermometer
ELECTRONIC Temperature Instruments (ETI) has launched a non-contact infrared thermometer, the IR-Pocket.
The user simply aims the thermometer at the target and presses the measure button to display the surface temperature instantly. The instrument indicates temperatures over the range of -49.9°C to 349.9°C with a resolution of 0.1°C/°F (switchable). Each unit incorporates maximum and minimum temperature functions together with an automatic power-off facility that turns the instrument off after fifteen seconds, maximising battery life.
The IR-Pocket also features a lock function for continuous temperature measurement.
The distance to target ratio is 1:1 and therefore the thermometer should be positioned as close to the target as possible. The default emissivity is 0.95 but can be changed from 0.1 to 1. Electronic Temperature Instruments
Danfoss reveals 2013 award winners
DANFOSS has announced its Turbocor Customer Award Winners for 2013 performance.
The aim of the scheme is to recognise the contribution that the firm’s customers make to its success with the Turbocor Series, both in the past and into the future. In order to quantify the relative contributions of customers, Danfoss has devised a points system that captures the essential ingredients of commercial success for itself and OEM customers. The 2013 Award Winners are:
Platinum (76 to 100 points): Climaveneta SpA, Cofely Refrigeration GmbH, Geoclima srl, Daikin Applied, Multistack LLC, Smardt Chiller Group (Smardt Inc, Smardt OPK, Smardt Powerpax).
Gold (56 to 75 points): Airedale International Air Conditioning, The Arctic Chiller Group, GI Industrial Holding SpA, RC Group SpA, Thermal Care Inc.
Silver (40 to 55 Points): Emicon AC SpA, Uniflair SpA. Danfoss Commercial Compressors

smaller sizes below 2hp in MBP and a full range in LBP. Appreciated for its compact, robust and lightweight design, today the Optyma Slim Pack is mainly installed in convenience stores and petrol station forecourt shops, for milk cooling, and coldrooms in mini markets and supermarkets. The range extension covers LBP applications from 0.6kW to 5.6kW, as well as lower cooling capacities in medium temperatures with applications down to 0.8kW and up to 10.6kW. Paul Szyszczak, business director, Danfoss Refrigeration said: “Optyma Slim Pack meets the market needs for cost effective solutions without compromising efficiency, reliability and ease of installation.” Danfoss

BOUYGUES Construction is using LG’s flagship geothermal product Multi V Water II in the renovation of its Challenger headquarters office building in Paris. It is the first building in the world to obtain certification to BREEAM, HQE and LEED at the highest levels of performance.
For building owners looking to achieve energy efficiencies on cooling and heating, meet stringent environmental targets and fulfil their CSR requirements, LG Multi V Water II is ideal. It is a geothermal-ready, advanced VRF water-cooled system specifically designed for high-rise buildings compatible with modern Building Management Systems (BMS) for maximum energy efficiencies. French civil engineering consultant Ferro Ingenierie was happy to specify LG Multi V Water II for the building in a system that uses 53 Multi V Water II units with heat recovery outdoor units supplying 426 duct heat pumps. According to Bouygues Construction, the ongoing benefits of LG Multi V II for the end-user are energy savings and reduced running costs. LG
