he American Hereford Association (AHA) will reach a milestone in 2015. Its branded beef program, Certifi ed Hereford Beef (CHB), will turn 20. The company is already marketing more than 50 million pounds of Hereford or


Hereford-English cross beef each year, and CHB staff members are working to extend the CHB infl uence further into U.S. beef herds. CHB, owned by the association, was started in 1995 and was


born out of an “eating study done in 1991 by Colorado State Uni- versity,” says Andrew Brooks, CHB director of marketing. In that study, USDA Select Hereford beef and Hereford-English
