Two men arrested last fall for assaulting 2 Texas game wardens after a high- speed pursuit in Limestone County have been sentenced to prison following guilty pleas to multiple felonies stemming from the case. Four other individuals whose role in the case became apparent after fur- ther investigation have also entered pleas and received sentences. Richard Fraser, 52, Groesbeck, entered guilty pleas to 5 felony counts June 6 in 87th State District Court before Judge Deborah Oakes Evans. The charges and sentences include 1 count of third-degree felony evading ar- rest with a deadly weapon, 10 years; 1 count of third-degree felony burglary of a building with a deadly weapon, 10 years; 1 count of third-degree felony burglary of a habitation with a deadly weapon, 10 years; and 2 counts of fi rst- degree felony aggravated assault of a public servant with a deadly weapon, 30 years on each count. The sentences will be concurrent. Teddy Wayne Davenport, 44, Mart, was found guilty on 4 felony charges by a Limestone County jury on May 16: Two counts of fi rst-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; third-degree felony burglary of a building; and third-degree felony evading arrest. The 77th District Court jury assessed his punishment at 50 years for each of the aggravated assault counts and 10 years for each of the third-degree felony counts. The terms will run concurrently.
Larry Thompson, 48, Groesbeck, pled guilty in 87th District Court on June 6 to 1 count of third-degree felony hindering apprehension of a known felon and was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
Lewis Dean Cagle, 52, Buffalo, pled guilty on May 22 in 87th District Court to 1 count of third-degree felony hindering apprehension/prosecution of a known felon and was sentenced to 7 years deferred probation, a $2,000 fi ne and 192 community service hours. William A. (Trey) Davidson III, 37, Teague, pled guilty in 77th District Court to 1 count of third-degree felony hindering apprehension/prosecution of a known felon, 4 years; 1 count of second-degree felony possession of a con- trolled substance greater than 4 grams and less than 200 grams of metham- phetamine, 4 years. Both sentences will run concurrently. Tanya Marie Lee, 38, Teague, pled guilty in 77th District Court to 1 count of third-degree felony hindering apprehension/prosecution of a known felon and was sentenced to 6 years deferred probation, a $2,000 fi ne and 192 com- munity service hours. She also pled guilty to 1 count of second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance greater than 4 grams and less than 200 grams of methamphetamine and was sentenced to 6 years deferred proba- tion, $1,500 fi ne, 192 community service hours, and attendance at Narcotic Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
