Scheduling a School Presentation
The On-Site Program is offered Monday through Friday during the school year at no cost to the request- ing school district. Any teachers interested in booking a presentation should contact David Bedford via email at
dbedford@fwmsh.org at least 7 days prior to the date request- ed. The e-mail should include the teacher’s name, school name, date requested and all contact information.

teachers has been overwhelmingly positive. “I have the opportunity to visit
some campuses on an annual ba- sis,” Bedford says. “I’ll bump into former fourth graders, who say, ‘Hey, I remember you. You’re the cowboy. It was really fun.’ When they remember me and my message a year later, I’m confi dent that it’s sinking in.” There is no doubt that Bedford
is a man on a mission, working to connect with as many students as possible. In his fi rst half-year, he reached 800 students. The next year, the number grew to 3,000. Last year, the total was 5,000. He recently completed a database that will al- low him to contact 700 teachers directly, spreading the word about this unique opportunity. “In my day, western movies kept
cowboys and ranching at the front of everyone’s minds,” Bedford says. “They don’t make many westerns anymore, but students are still in- trigued by cowboys and ranching. We have to keep their interest alive so these important pieces of our heritage receive the attention and appreciation they deserve.”
