Bedford leads a class from the lecture area in the Museum of Science and History through the halls to the Cattle Raisers Museum. He has provided a memorable educational experi- ence about the cattle industry to thousands of North Texas children.

During the class period, Bedford shares the cattle in- dustry’s history, beginning with the introduction of cattle into the New World by Spanish explorers. Then he moves to the arrival of Anglo-Americans into Texas and the impact of the post-Civil War period on the cattle industry, which prompted the development of cattle drives. Finally, they explore the industry’s impact on the Texas economy. The program aligns with state education require- ments and, thanks to generous underwriting by the
