LTE and the enterprise space

ith the introduction of powerful 4G networks, which promise even more data capacity and speed, the mobile world is about to look a lot different. LTE is leading the 4G charge into

a new era of mobility, changing the way we live, play and work with innovations that transform everyday items into informational devices.

Despite having starred in over 60 films, Kevin Bacon may excuse the public for only recognising him from ‘that 4G advert’ that saturated their television and cinema screens over the summer in the UK. It is, however, an accurate reflection of the amount of attention and investment that’s been given to delivering a 4G solution to consumers. What about businesses?

A short answer would be that the big providers have simply neglected the enterprise space. It is understandable that the telecoms giants want to get the consumer offering right before they branch into enterprise provision, but 2014 should be the year to do this. They are missing quite a profitable trick by leaving businesses in the lurch when it comes to LTE.

The business benefits of LTE A report released at the end of last year by the consultancy group, Arthur D. Little and commissioned by EE, looked at the benefits of LTE to businesses and came up with three key benefits:

nmore applications can be used on mobile devices, both in the office and remotely;

nfaster or real-time sharing of large files; nimmediate delivery of time-sensitive data, such as business transactions.
