equipment for para-rowing, providing specialized equipment that will support athletes to train and succeed in a way never before thought possible. Adaptive events were only incorporated into the World Rowing Championships in 2002, followed by their Summer Paralympics debut in Beijing in 2008. As para-rowers prepare for the 2014 games in Rio, Resolute wants to meet the needs of the athletes with top-quality technology. Among the many prototypes under development, Resolute is working with its sister company, Crawford, to create rowing seats modelled on F1 drivers’ seats, increasing comfort yet enabling optimal performance. The founders work to constantly listen

to the best coaches in the world, looking for ways to delight them with solutions that are better than they could have imagined. Creating boats that will remain elite level racing-fit for many years also allows the clubs to save money over time and focus their resources on their growth and program development. Resolute’s latest eight model, the

“Vanquish”, uses F1 materials and allows for a great range of specificity in the design, allowing coaches to determine how the boat will feel and row. The additional components featured in the boat serve as a secondary line of specialization for coaches, from three

different types of rudder/fin combinations to clip-in Shimano SRD shoe systems to Coxmate rowing electronics systems. Resolute’s slow growth model, emphasizing investment in technology over mass production of boats, has resulted in a small fleet of winning shells and a growing rank of extremely loyal coaches and rowers. The consistency and longevity of the designs led to the brand and in many cases the same shells lining up for the grand finals in the US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Championships and Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Men’s Championships in the United States. In 1999, the Cal men’s varsity set a world’s best time in a Resolute of 5:23.6 at the IRAs, eclipsing all Olympic records up to that time. This still stands as one of the top two fastest collegiate times ever. Since 1997, a crew has raced a Resolute to a medal or victory in all but one NCAA championship. While anecdotes don’t make data,

stories of success and praise abound, while the company steadily increases its record of success. Steve Gladstone, current Yale University coach, says: “Regarding the Resolutes, there’s no question that they are the most durable, long-lasting racing shells built. Regarding the efficiency of the hull, race results speak for themselves. During the 11 years
