New Workforce Welfare Conversion – Innovative, Convenient and Compact

O

&H Vehicle Conversions have recently launched their innovative Welfare Vehicles targeting a wide range of markets including

construction, rail and facilities. Kevin Wheatman, O&H Vehicle Conversions Managing Director says “O&H has always been synonymous with WAV and Ambulance vehicles. We are also associated with patient and passenger transport but we wanted to focus other marketplaces to develop another quality and innovative vehicle” O&H’s compact Welfare vehicle conversion, currently based on Citroen’s L3H2 Relay with a GVW of 3500kg, adds seven passenger and a driver seat, a kitchen, toilet and hand basin. The saloon area utilises a number of existing O&H innovations including the fully tested floor, bump guard over the doors, modified interior mouldings and a window originating from O&H’s Ambulance range. The workforce will benefit from the comfortable heat and hot water provided by an 8kW Webasto independent heating system. The O&H Welfare Conversion boasts eight seats (most competing conversions only have seven). Five of the seats are situated in the saloon sited around a table and the other three are located inside the cabin.

The rear section accessed through the back double doors includes a Thetford cassette chemical toilet which is standard for caravans and motorhomes and had a wash hand basin. The design can also be configured to replace the basin area with an overhead shower. This area is fully heated so that crew can dry their clothing. The rear section can also be fully hosed down or power-washed clean because every surface is covered in a durable sprayed-on coating. This is added after the partitions and flooring have been completed which ensures that there are no junctions to leak; this is essential because most of the partitioning’s are made from exterior ply.

The electrical equipment on board is powered from two deep-cycle batteries through a converter, where mains current is needed, but can be shore lined where mains power is available. A BatteryGuard in fitted so that the batteries cannot be drained below starting voltage. O&H uses also PIR- triggered lighting over the rear doors. Kevin states “Most people associate the term “Welfare” with the care industry but it’s used to describe support vehicles for mobile workforces who are out in all weathers and who can be located in remote locations. They need somewhere to do

paperwork, take a break and to use the bathroom. Our Welfare Vehicles are definitely not an off-the-peg product” Another key USP, apart from the high standard of finish, is that O&H registers the van and has the conversion approved which further demonstrates their commitment to Health & Safety. O&H vehicle conversions comply with all current health and safety regulations, WTVA (Whole Vehicle Type Approval).
