Born into beauty

This month Danielle Randall, Sales Director of Platinum Beauty Distribution Ltd, shares the stories behind her industry success.

I ended up in the beauty industry because…Iwas born into the beauty industry so to speak –myMumwas pregnantwithmewhen she andmy aunt Grace opened Buttercups Beauty Salon in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre in Dublinmanymoons ago. I grewup helpingmyMumin the salon and started as a junior at 14, cleaning rooms and emptying bins formy bit of pocket money! Fromthere itwasmy passion for skin care that startedmy careerwith Nimue, the rest is history.

A typical day forme is… Generally, I’mup early looking aftermy eight year old son Christian andmy two puppies, Bailey and Honey. Three mornings aweek I doweight training which I adore. I’min the office door around 9amand get straight to emails, queries and budgets. Fromthere it really depends on the day butmainly Social Media updating, PR related articles and requests, speakingwith potential customers and existing customers and planning upcoming trainings and events. A fewafternoons perweek I visit our existing customerswhich is part ofmy job I love to do, it keeps everything varied.

My biggest achievement to date is… Firstly that I lovewhat I do. I feel really lucky toworkwith brands I truly believe in, and notmany people get to say that. Secondly it’s seeing customers succeeding. I love knowing thatwe have helped themachieve it. I particularly love workingwith peoplewith problemskins and seeing howNimue not only changes their skin but their confidence aswell. In the last two yearswe havewon five Irishmagazine beauty awards for Nimue and our companywon ‘BestMedia Exposure’ at the 2013 International Nimue Conference. In addition, becoming

distributor of Baby B Browne Tan, these have been some real high points. In truth as corny as itmay sound, I still say Christian ismy greatest achievement and alwayswill be.

I’matmy happiestwhen…I’mgetting to spend timewith family and friends, the people inmy life are so important tome.

If I could swap liveswith someone for the day itwould be…My son Christian – just to rememberwhat it’s like to play games on the streetwith friends and to viewtheworldwith child-like awe.

My top beauty secret is…Never go to bedwithmake-up on andwear SPF every day. I can’t livewithoutmy Nimue SPF 40.

My beauty icon is…Audrey Hepburn.

My favourite part of theworld is… I’mblessed that I have been able to travel

to lots of places but Connemara is stillmy favourite. I feel at home there having grown up holidaying in Clifden since Iwas a kid.

My favourite filmis…Clueless – still one ofmy all-time favourites.

My favourite book is…The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. The only book I couldn’t put down formore than 30 minutes!

The best piece of advice I’ve been given is…Be in lovewith your life, every minute of it!

Iwould like to be remembered as… Someonewhowas hardworking, honest, generous, fun, someonewho followed their dreams andwho touched people’s lives. Notmuch to ask really!
