METALCASTER ARTFULLY HANDLES GAME OF THRONES


Set in a fantasy world complete with dragons, witches and mummy-like “white walkers,” HBO’s smash hit “Game of Thrones” is a show that leaves no detail unaddressed. To that end, many of the main characters carry swords that are much more elaborate than simple props.


The show, which is fi lmed primarily in Northern Ireland, features a number of sword handles that have been produced by Dublin’s Bronze Art Fine Art Foundry. Before each season, the HBO production team provides sculpted versions of the handles. From these models, the Bronze Art Foundry team creates molds and investment casts the pieces in bronze. (The blades are forged steel.) Characters Jaime Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon and Jon Snow own the swords shown here. 
