n HAYMARKET MEDIA GROUP and mobile app company Mubaloo have announced a collaboration that will drive the next phase of evolution in consumer apps. They will research and build apps that build on content from the group’s motoring brands, including What Car?, Autocar and Pistonheads. The data generated by these brands will be used to build three new apps. A series of further developments across Haymarket’s brand portfolio is planned for the second half of 2014.

n International Data Group (IDG) announced that its founder and chairman, PATRICK J. MCGOVERN, died on 19 March 2014 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He was 76 years old. “IDG has lost a true visionary,
and the IT community has lost one of its most exceptional citizens,” said IDG board chairman, Walter Boyd. “Pat’s foremost desire was for IDG to make the world a better place through the medium of information technology. KAYA MEDIA CORPORATION, publisher of the Korean editions of Esquire, Harper’s BAZAAR, and Motor Trend, has announced the launch of the Kaya Media School of Magazines. Situated on the campus of Yonsei University, Kaya Media School of Magazines’ mission is to meet the increasing demand for magazine editors and publishing related staff in the country. The first class was held on 5 March, where 61 students registered to attend. The first semester includes one three-hour lecture per-week over 15 weeks. The entire second semester will be devoted to a hands-on creative workshop that will result in the completion of a mock magazine.

n Current president of Atlantic Media, SCOTT HAVENS, is leaving the company to become senior vice president of digital at Time Inc. Havens joined The Atlantic in 2009 as vice president of
digital strategy and was named president of the brand in 2012.
n BETH BUEHLER has been named senior vice president of digital operations and strategy at Rodale. She is based New York and will lead key digital functions across the company’s
portfolio of brands. Buehler joins from Getty Images, where she served as head of digital ventures. She joined the company’s executive team in February.
