Tradfest, the Edinburgh- based traditional Scottish culture festival has a 2014 focus on revival of folk arts and the impending independence referendum. Taking place between 29th April and 11th May, over eighty events are spread across twenty six city venues (with the hub at the Scottish Storytelling Centre), TradFest features music, dance and tale- telling from Catrin Finch &

Scandimoot 2014 – a long weekend of traditional Scandinavian music and dance – runs from 2nd – 6th May at Clapham and Settle, North Yorkshire. This year’s theme is the music and dance of the Västerdalarna region of Sweden, with musicians Jonas Åkerlund, Anders Rosén and Mattias Helje and dance teachers Klas af Edholm and Julia Persson. They are joined by fiddle and låtmandola player Marit Fält who will be running group and individual workshops for those new to Scandinavian music and by Josefina Paulson who will be leading nyckelharpa workshops. www.scandimoot.org.uk
