Fibre laser micromachining system


IPG Photonics has introduced the IX-200-F, an advanced fibre laser micromachining system for general purpose, R&D, and batch-scale production applications. The multi-function system can be configured with different combinations of fibre lasers and beam delivery systems to address


the increased power level enables higher deposition rate cladding (>20 lb/h), or the use of larger spot sizes for heat treating. Laser and diodes Talon 355-15 Q-switched lasers


Spectra-Physics, has introduced the Talon 355-15, a new addition to its Talon family of Q-switched diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers. The laser delivers >15W UV power, >300µJ pulse energy, and a wide-repetition-rate range of 0 to 500kHz. Talon 355-15 is suitable for powering continuous manufacturing of PCBs, semiconductors, LEDs, ceramics, flat panel displays, solar cells, glass, and other devices and materials.

Edmund Optics has introduced new laser crystals. Nd:YAG laser crystals feature high optical homogeneity, high laser damage thresholds, processing accuracy and good stability. They provide superior fluorescence lifetime and thermal conductivity for maximum throughput at 1,064nm. The crystals are for high-power CW, Q-switched or single mode operation. Nd:YVO4 crystals feature high damage thresholds, strong mechanical properties and superior optical properties. Nd:YVO4 has a large stimulated emission cross section, high absorption, and a broad absorption band centred at 807nm for compact DPSS lasers. The crystals can lase at 1,342nm, 1,064nm, and 914nm with associated harmonics in the green and blue wavelengths. Ti:sapphire crystals provide large gain and emission bandwidths with high laser damage thresholds and saturation power. With high thermal conductivity, they are suitable for implementation into femtosecond pulsed or wavelength tunable CW lasers. www.edmundoptics.com

Electronics Cool and Control diode driver modules


Alphanov, the technology centre of the Bordeaux Route des Lasers cluster, has introduced a family of diode driver modules. With the new Cool and Control (CC) diode driver modules, single-mode and multimode diodes can now be driven reliably and securely with compact devices.

The process enables micro-structural control of Al2O3 coatings, and coating characteristics, by the maintenance of coating process parameters on Coldab Series4 USPLD batch process coating equipment. The Series4 equipment has built-in online plasma monitoring and laser power measurement that enable management of coating process parameters, as well as a PC controlled automation that records the actions of the coating process. The metrics provided by these systems mean that the coating process, and especially the thin film quality, can be controlled to achieve coating characteristics within targeted parameters. Test production runs showed that the system could improve the porosity of a 3µm Al2O3 coating from 10 to 45 per cent by tuning the scanning speed and laser power repetition rate. www.picodeon.com
