3D Optofan series


Scottish based company Optoscribe has introduced a new eight-channel multicore fibre fanout device.


The 3D Optofan series offers a standard eight-core configuration that can be easily customised to suit multicore fibre geometry. This enables users to increase the amount of data that can be transferred across an optical fibre, thereby reducing cabling costs and dimensions while maximising data bandwidth. The device is ideal for applications where space is at a premium and high bandwidth connectivity is essential. The eight-channel fanout joins the 3D Optofan series of products that already include four-, seven-, and 19-channel devices. www.optoscribe.com

introduced a new strain sensing


fibre with a protective GFRP jacket (glass fibre reinforced plastic) material, making integration with the composite material easier for the technician. Supplied on a convenient spool, it is available in either a tape (SMT-01) or wire (SMW-01) format to suit each application – be it a surface application, embedded, or for monitoring civil/geo-technical structures outdoors. With dimensions of 0.35 and 1mm, they are small enough to transfer strain, yet offer ease of handling as well as mechanical protection in harsh environments. While fibre length, number of sensors and connector type can be specified, a fibre is now available for trials comprising five sensors over a 6.2m length of the coated fibre. PI (Physik Instrumente) has introduced the H-820 Hexapod. The parallel-kinematic positioning system can attain a linear repeatability of 20µm and a rotational repeatability of 200µrad, over the entire travel range of 100mm in X and Y direction, 50mm in

Apex Technologies has launched its AP264XB Optical Complex Spectrum Analyser (OCSA), which can be used as an optical modulation analyser and as an optical spectrum analyser. As an optical modulation analyser, it can measure chirp, phase, alpha parameter or pulse shape as a function of time. Furthermore, it can display constellation, phase


eye diagram, intensity eye diagram, EVM and BER estimation.

LGS 1000 goniometer


Instrument Systems has released upgrades for its LGS 1000 goniometer, which is ideal for measuring angle-dependent spatial radiation characteristics of large LED modules, solid-state lighting (SSL) products, as well as lamps and luminaires.
