Ibsen Photonics has launched the Peak platform for programmable spectroscopy. The Peak platform uses Ibsen’s fused silica transmission gratings together with Texas Instruments’ DLP technology, in order to provide a whole new dimension of programmability for spectroscopic instruments. With the platform, it is possible to control the relative power, exposure time and resolution independently for each wavelength in your spectrum.
Examples of applications of the Peak platform include: rugged and compact scanning mono- chromator with no moving parts; programmable light source; advanced spectrometer with wavelength dependent resolution; exposure time and/or power; and advanced spectrometer with multiple wavelength exposures. Peak extends Ibsen’s Freedom, Rock and Eagle spectrometers for instrument makers of Raman, UV/VIS/NIR, SD-OCT and near-IR instruments.

Laser Components has introduced the LuxxMaster LML series of VBG stabilised compact
Raman sources. With up to 1.5W of optical power, typical line width of 1.3cm-1
, and a ±5pm
wavelength stability, the LuxxMaster LML is the ideal Raman source for OEM manufacturers of Raman spectrometers.
The source includes features such as a programmable USB interface, built-in thermoelectric cooler, automatic power control, fibre-coupled or free-space outputs, and an integrated heat sink and cooling fan eliminating the need for an external heat sink. The device is rugged and weighs only 400g in a 90 x 90 x 50mm enclosure (134g in a 76 x 64 x 18mm box for compact versions), meaning it is ideal for situations where DPSS lasers cannot be used.

LOT-QuantumDesign now supplies the confocal Raman imaging system, Alpha300 R from WITec, which offers the ability to acquire chemical information non-destructively with a resolution down to the optical
diffraction limit (~200nm). This allows the user to observe and analyse the distribution of different phases within a sample in ambient conditions without specialised sample preparation. Because of the confocal set-up, it is not only possible to collect information from the sample surface, but also to look deep inside transparent samples and even obtain 3D information. A complete Raman spectrum is acquired at each image pixel, resulting in images consisting of

Princeton Instruments has launched the IsoPlane 160 imaging spectrograph, which brings the company’s IsoPlane SCT 320 to a smaller-footprint instrument.
The 160mm focal length spectrograph includes high spectral and spatial resolution across the entire 27 x 14mm focal plane, as well as complete flexibility in spectral coverage, resolution, and wavelength range thanks to a triple-grating turret. The IsoPlane 160 acquires hundreds or thousands of colours simultaneously, enabling life and physical science applications. The instrument is supported by Princeton Instruments’ 64-bit LightField software (with
Renishaw has released its StreamLineHR Rapide option for its InVia Raman microscope. The device is able to collect large amounts of Raman data quickly. With this capability, and InVia’s high sensitivity, users can generate high definition chemical images quickly. Tight integration between Renishaw’s detector and motorised sample stage enables rapid imaging (a detector spectrum readout rate of more than 1,000s-1
). Coupled with large file
handling this means it is easy to produce highly detailed Raman images at high speed. With enhanced signal-to-noise ratio, accurate measurements are achieved even where extremely low signal levels are present. Users
can export high-definition (megapixel) Raman images because there is no inherent file size limit.

tens of thousands of spectra. The acquisition time for one spectrum is in the range of milliseconds, resulting in complete images being collected in a matter of minutes.
LOT also supplies the EnSpectr R532 Raman spectrometer, which has a spectral range of 140 to 6,030cm2
with a resolution of 6cm. It
uses a 30mW, 532nm laser diode and is small, lightweight and portable.

B&W Tek has added the NanoRam FP to its handheld Raman instrument line, available from Pacer International. The instrument has a fibre optic probe for identifying materials. Perfect for sampling in the lab, warehouse, loading dock or field settings, the probe has a trigger feature and LED pass/fail indicators, making it easy to sweep through samples without needing to view the instrument screen. This expedites the identification process, helps to eliminate quarantine areas and helps materials through the manufacturing lifecycle, and makes the job of the technician as easy as possible. The software is intuitive and user-friendly; data results are consistent and reliable. Non-contact analysis can be performed through transparent containers, maintaining the volume and integrity of the sample. Available from Pacer, NanoRam FP is fully compliant with regulations and can play an integral role in cGMP-compliant facilities.

available IntelliCal wavelength calibration), Princeton Instruments’ 32-bit WinSpec software, and National Instruments’ LabView software. Researchers can also use their own acquisition software with the Princeton Instruments software developer’s kit. Key applications for the IsoPlane 160 spectrograph include multichannel spectroscopy, microspectroscopy, Raman scattering, fluorescence, photoluminescence, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), Fourier-domain spectroscopy, biomedical imaging, and most other spectroscopic imaging and non-imaging techniques.

Tescan, a Czech producer of scanning electron microscopes (SEM), and WITec, a German specialist in Raman and scanning probe microscopes, have jointly developed the RISE microscope. RISE microscopy is a novel correlative microscopy technique that combines confocal Raman Imaging and Scanning Electron (RISE) microscopy within one integrated microscope system.
The microscope enables the acquisition of SEM and Raman images from the same sample area and the correlation of ultra-structural and chemical information. The instrument provides all features of a stand-alone SEM and an exceptionally sensitive confocal Raman microscope.
