PIONEERING INNOVATION The core values that shaped the foundation of Tauck as a family-owned company remain as relevant today as they were in 1925 when Arthur Sr. guided his first tour through New England. Throughout the years, ingenuity and innovation, plus a focus on customer service and authentic experiences, have grown Tauck into one of the world’s leading travel companies.
In 1935, Tauck was granted tour broker “License #001” by the Interstate Commerce Commission – and a new industry was born. In the second half of the twentieth century, Tauck grew into a global travel company. In 1958, we pioneered air travel with the first chartered aircraft for leisure travelers, battling the Civil Aeronautics Board all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to gain approval. In the 1960s, we created air and land tours that opened up the American West – and today, the U.S. National Parks remain a major element of our company. From the 1990s onward, international expansion brought life-enriching travel experiences across the globe with journeys in more than 70 countries and seven continents.
Tauck continues to introduce new ways to travel as well - by land, sea and river. Tauck River Cruising was voted World’s Best River Cruise Line in 2013 by Travel + Leisure magazine. We have expanded Small Ship Cruising around the world. In 2003 we introduced Tauck Bridges, the first multi-generational travel program focused on shared enrichment. Tauck Events and Culturious soon followed. Collaborative partnerships bring added enrichment to the stories told through our original, unique travel experiences. In North America, guests benefit from the insights of filmmakers Ken Burns and Dayton Duncan, who worked with us to craft journeys based on the themes of their films. And our newest partnership, with BBC Earth, brings a fresh new perspective to natural history travel – Earth Journeys, beginning in 2014. But one thing that has always remained the same is the importance of connecting people and places with inspirational travel. At the end of the day, travel is all about the people you meet and the stories shared along the way... they are the memories kept in the heart. Because how you see the world matters.
