Payroll Assurance Scheme approvals
THE CIPP is pleased to announce that Financial Services 4 Schools and Celerity Payroll Services Ltd have successfully achieved Payroll Assurance Scheme (PAS) approval and have been officially recognised by the Institute for having payroll processes that are accurate and compliant under PAS. Karen Thomson FCIPP MSc, Associate director of policy, research and strategic visibility at the CIPP, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Financial Services 4 Schools and Celerity Payroll Services Ltd have been given the PAS stamp of approval. “These organisations went through a comprehensive review process and met all the relevant criteria made by the CIPP’s PAS assessors. As a result they were awarded with the PAS kitemark, which gives them the reassurance and confidence that their payroll processes and activities are correct and compliant.”
PAS provides payroll departments assurance that their payroll and associated processes are fit for purpose, the correct activities are being covered and suitable procedures are in place for identifying and preparing for legislative changes. The scheme also highlights areas of development and improvement.

ADP, FOURTH LTD, University Hospital Birmingham and Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd have all been re-accredited with the prestigious Payroll Quality Partnership (PQP) accreditation from the CIPP. Currently, there are more than 49 accredited organisations as well as a further 21 working towards this prestigious accreditation. Fourth Ltd, University Hospital Birmingham and Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd are maintaining their standards and are staying within the ranks of organisations who have achieved this respected accreditation. Their ongoing dedication to their payroll staff’s professional development is a testament to the success that PQP is today.” Fourth Ltd has recently been through the process of re-accreditation. Julie Cosgrove, Payroll manager for Fourth Ltd, said: “We found the CIPP to be most helpful in giving us advice and assistance to gain the re-accreditation. They were more than happy to go the extra mile and read through our report prior to the scheduled meeting and give advice on the areas Fourth have strengths and areas which we can improve, they also made additional time to run through the entire process with us step by step. “When it came to the assessment we were fully prepared for the questions we were asked due to the CIPP’s advice and recommendations…the CIPP gave some great ideas to improve our processes and the training of our employees.”
The PQP award recognises organisations that apply best practice in the development of their payroll professionals to enable them to provide customers with the highest level of service. The PQP accreditation scheme was launched in 2007 to provide a standard
for performance management in payroll, encouraging organisations to maintain professional competence while enhancing and developing payroll skills and knowledge.
