COLLEGE STUDENT ROCKS METAL CASTINGS
After the 2014 Grammy Awards wrapped up in January and stars
like Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Tim McGraw hit post-parties, they might have had a young metalcaster to thank when they finally found liquid refreshment. Tyler Dietzschold, a senior at Pittsburg State Univ., Pittsburg, Kansas, cast 250 bottle openers that were placed in gift bags given to all Grammy Award nominees. An exhibiting vendor with connections to PSU offered such a project to Russ Rosmait, professor of engineering technology, and Dietzschold couldn’t pass it up. “It’s pretty crazy to think about,” Dietzschold said. “Some of the biggest names in music are going to have a bottle opener we made right here at [Pittsburgh State].”
The investment cast bottle openers feature PSU’s gorilla logo on one side and the Grammy Awards’ logo on the other. ■
