10:15 a.m. AFS President’s Session: Putting a Face on the
Safety Statistics Statistics show the metalcasting industry has nearly three times the accident rate of other manufacturing industries, and during the past ten years 71 deaths have occurred at metalcasting facilities. A panel of metalcasting managers who have experi- enced an accidental death in their facility will discuss the inci- dent, emotions and changes to implement to make sure it never happens again. Te panel moderator will be Ted Schorn, Enkei America Inc. Participants will be Tom Riordan, Neenah Foundry, John Torrance, Torrance Casting, Bruce Tesch, Waupaca Tell City, and Dennis Dotson, Dotson Iron Castings.

turing in the U.S. for 2014 and beyond? Te forum will look at recent trends and provide a preview of the economic future for manufacturing and the metalcasting industry in the U.S. and worldwide.

About Marketing (14-041) Kathy Hayrynen, Applied Process Inc., Livonia, Mich. In order for the metalcasting industry to survive and
thrive, it must be able to market itself and the products it produces to its customers, the next generation of employees and the communities in which its facilities reside. Unfortu- nately, this has not always been done in a consistent fashion across the industry. Hoyt Lecturer Kathy Hayrynen, Applied Process Inc., will discuss the importance of marketing and suggest some actions for our industry to take.
