Visitors and exhibitors praise The ACR Show

Last month I enjoyed three busy days at Datateam’s biennial ACR Show, the dedicated event for the air conditioning and refrigeration industry, which was held at The NEC in Birmingham. We were a bit unlucky with some pretty bad weather, which included

a snowfall on the first day, but I was delighted to see that this didn’t deter visitors who still came along in their droves. From my perspective visitors, seminar attendees and exihibitors alike all appeared to be highly enthusiatic about the show and what they were taking away from it. I spent a great proportion of my time chairing seminar sessions in the

Technology Theatre, which along with the Business Intelligence Theatre, played host to many highy respected experts in their fields imparting their knowlege to well-attended audiences. The Building & Engineering Services had some highly topical discussions in its session of seminars on the second day. Particularly well attended was a presentation on the recent changes to the F-Gas Regulations by Graeme Fox, a B&ES council member, which saw audience numbers spilling out into the aisles. We have a lot more on that in our B&ES pages this month which you can read on pages 16 and 17.

The B&ES also updated visitors on business opportunities around the

Renewable Heat Incentive scheme, as well as the imminent changes to Part L of the Buidling Regulations and what new carbon targets mean for installers and the trade. On the whole, exibitors who I managed to catch up with, said they

had received many solid leads and held many interesting conversations which would not have happened had they not exhibited. From my vantage point in the Technology Theatre, headline sponsor Daikin’s stand was busy throughout the show. Daikin used the show as the launch-pad for the latest generation of its air conditioning system, VRV IV Heat Recovery system. Some foreign exhibitors also enjoyed a good show. One South-African

based exhibitor said his success at the show and the level of solid inquiries he had received had prompted him make a firm decision to branch out into the UK. If you want to take part in the next ACR Show, it will be held at the NEC in Birmingham on February 16 –18, 2016.
