38 Product News Energy saving hvac steam distribution
HUMIDITY Solutions has introduced the Neptronic X-Stream steam distributor, which it says is capable of reducing energy wastage in steam humidifiers serving HVAC systems by as much as 85%, with a typical return on investment within 15 months. X-Stream is compatible with resistive, gas-fired, steam-to- steam and direct steam injection humidifiers.
The innovative X-Stream design incorporates steam ejector eyelets that supply steam perpendicular to the air flow to deliver shorter evaporation distances. The eyelets also feature an internal slope that returns condensate to the steam dispersion channel. The result is that steam supply consumption and wasted condensate are both reduced significantly. In addition to the energy savings, lifecycle costs are further reduced by zero maintenance requirements during the life of the X-Stream. The internal design prevents contact between insulation and saturated steam, while the header design ensures that steam is distributed equally to all steam dispersion channels. The dispersion channels can be factory fitted or assembled on site. Humidity Solutions
☎ 0844 822 1180 Armacell launches new Armaflex Class O
NEW AF/Armaflex Class O brand thermal insulation, incorporating a full range of elastomeric tubes, self seal tubes, coils, tape, flat sheet, self-adhesive sheets, continuous sheet (rolls) and pre-insulated pipe supports is now available with all the products providing the
same technical values for the first time. It replaces the previous Class O Armaflex range, with the new AF/Armaflex Class O tube and sheet product codes refixed with AF-CO for easy identification. The Construction Products Regulation introduced in 2013 now means it is mandatory for thermal insulation products to carry a CE Mark. New formulation Armaflex has been developed to meet the obligatory European fire performance, thermal conductivity and water vapour diffusion resistance values.
The new AF/Armaflex Class O range has a Euroclass Fire Rating of Bs3-d0 and improved thermal conductivity performance of 0.033 W/ also improved from 7,000 to µ 10,000 and the product is now free from MCCPs. Armacell UK
TF Solutions expands its TF range
TF SOLUTIONS has added a new product to its highly successful TF range. The TF1 introduces to the market a new condensate tank pump specifically designed to remove condensate water from air conditioners, refrigeration equipment and de- humidifiers.
The pump is the second product to be introduced into the TF range and benefits
from a one litre tank capacity delivering a 5.6m lift. Fully automatic with a 3/8in non-return valve, it also comes with a three-year warranty. “The TF1 condensate pump perfectly complements the TF2 Pump which was launched successfully to market early in 2013 and is a popular product in our range,” said Andy Cherrill, director at TF Solutions. “Our customers have responded very positively to the TF Range and we’ve specifically developed this new product in direct response to installers all over the country. We’re delighted that it’s now available from our branches in Stockport, Dunstable and Burton-on- Trent.” TF Solutions
ACR News March 2014 AB offers no frills air-cooled chillers
AB SYSTEMS has launched the EcoLight air- cooled chiller range. Designed to fulfil basic cooling requirements while offering maximum performance, EcoLight is manufactured to exacting standards by leading chiller brand Nova Frigo. The range is said to be cost-effective, reliable and accessible to all budgets. Three models are available, with cooling capacities of 50kW, 80kW and 120kW. Features include a Nova Frigo-designed multi- function microprocessor, which governs evaporating and condensing pressures and accurately measures system parameters, ensuring consistent, precise and efficient control of the chiller’s operation. Units can also be ordered with a remote control panel that allows access to the chiller from a second location. EcoLight’s intelligent multichiller function means that cooling plants with more than one chiller benefit from microprocessor technology that automatically adjusts the operation of each compressor in relation to thermal load, ensuring stable and exact process temperatures and minimising energy consumption. Ecolight delivers on efficiency even in ambient temperatures up to 45°C. AB Systems
☎ 01844 339044 Ceiling-mounted air conditioning units
TOSHIBA Air Conditioning has introduced a new range of ceiling-mounted air conditioning units, designed to be easy-to-fit and with exceptionally low noise characteristics.
☎ 0161 287 7015
The advanced series 7 indoor units have been completely redesigned and come in a wide range of capacities, including a 6hp unit. With a more modern appearance to the front grille, the units have a bigger chassis to accommodate a larger, more efficient heat exchanger. The new design delivers larger air volumes (up by 38%) while operating with lower sound levels (down 9%), due to a redesigned fan which optimises the passage and delivery of air through the unit. Toshiba’s research team discovered that turbulence in the throat of fan housings can reduce the ‘throw’ of air leaving air conditioning units, reducing cooling and heating effectiveness in the conditioned space. However, the new series 7 has a redesigned fan housing with a turbulence prevention device to overcome this. The result is a more effective air stream delivered into the room, with reduced noise and lower power consumption. Toshiba Air Conditioning
☎ 0870 843 0333 Crowcon provides reliable F-gas detection
EFFECTIVE monitoring and detection of F-gases is essential. Crowcon’s F-Gas infrared detector is a fixed-point detector specially calibrated to detect a wide range of F-gases.
Rugged and easy to install, it can be connected to any control system which accepts analogue signals.
Together with Crowcon’s Gasmaster control panel and Xgard toxic gas detector, the F-gas detector provides an effective gas leak detection package. With no moving parts, very little maintenance is required – just a bi-annual gas check.
In addition to protecting personnel from toxic gas risks, installing the F-Gas detector also provides an early warning that the gas is leaking and thus maintains system efficiency and reduces potentially huge gas replacement costs and enables the supplier and user to comply with the mandatory F-gas regulations.
