Condensing Units 31

cooling load is immediate, allowing precise temperature control that lifts the evaporating temperature, in turn minimising energy consumption. Superior energy efficiency is also achieved through low condensing temperatures.

One example of the application of the ZX Digital unit is Stewart’s Butchers in Enniskillen. Stewart’s required a low noise, energy efficient system that was also highly reliable. Using a ZXD unit – installed by Higgins Refrigeration and supplied by Refrigeration Distributors in Dublin – Stewart’s has achieved excellent results with lower running costs resulting from full control of evaporating pressures.

Stewart’s is able to maintain a selection of high quality fresh meat products for their customers, while increasing shelf life and ultimately profit.

Another advantage of the ZX Digital unit is that one unit can be offered instead of six: a key selling point due to economic and space saving advantages for the end user. In the installation shown, the wall cabinets, serve-over and the dry aged beef display, are all cooled by one digital condensing unit. In addition to digital technology, the ZX range offers a number of other unique features.

Low temperature models feature enhanced vapour injection to enhance

capacity and efficiency. An oil separator and suction accumulator are also in the standard scope for low temperature models.

High reliability is achieved on all models through diagnostic capabilities which protect the compressor against over-current, phase imbalance, phase loss and incorrect phase rotation.

In comparison to condensing units using reciprocating hermetic compressors, the ZX range provides up to 20% lower energy costs.

The outcome is COP-values approaching 2.49 at medium temperature and up to 1.32 with low temperature applications.

Considering that running costs make up nearly 75% of the total life cycle costs, it is important to choose the right technology and benefit from the highest saving potential.

With energy costs expected to continually increase in coming years,

The ZX range.

proven life cycle cost savings will only accelerate in the future from today’s levels.

To summarise, the Copeland ZX range of condensing units is Emerson Climate Technologies’ response to the space, noise and efficiency demands of a large number of end users operating refrigeration applications such as convenience stores, cold rooms, meat and vegetable retailers, fast food chains and restaurants and beverage coolers.
